Our device. Our app.
 Made for each other.

  • Change anything from outside the room, no opening noisy doors
  • Build routines, light, sounds, stories and timers in one tap
  • Fine-tune hundreds of colours beyond the 8 presets
  • Run multiple devices from one app for siblings' rooms

Questions parents ask

Before you decide.

This is the right question to ask, research has shown some sound machines can exceed safe levels at full volume. Sounds & Stories has 16 preset volume levels, and the lowest sits at around 30dB, quieter than a library, and well under the 50dB ceiling audiologists recommend for infant rooms. We'd suggest placing the device across the room rather than in the cot, starting low, and only going as loud as needed to mask household noise.

Children become attached to sleep cues, that's not a flaw, it's how sleep works. A consistent cue is exactly what makes bedtime predictable. The honest answer: yes, your child will associate the device with sleep, the same way they associate a favourite teddy or a drawn curtain with sleep. The difference is this cue travels (the Mini), adapts as they grow, and can be wound back gradually whenever you choose, turn the volume down over a few weeks rather than going cold turkey.

A basic machine does one job for one stage: noise for a baby. This does five jobs across a decade, white noise and night light for a newborn, original stories for a toddler, an ok-to-wake light and sleep trainer for a preschooler, a clock for a school kid, and a lamp and Bluetooth speaker after that.

It's also the only device in Australia with original stories built in. If you only ever need white noise, a cheaper machine is genuinely fine. If you'd rather buy once, this is the device that doesn't get boxed up after a year.

No. Never. Every sound, every story and every app feature is included in the price of the device, permanently. Nothing is locked behind a membership and nothing expires. Some well-known devices in this category charge a monthly fee to access their full content library, we think that's the wrong way to treat parents.

No Wi-Fi, the device connects to your phone by Bluetooth only, and works fully from the buttons on top without any phone at all. It never connects to the internet, so there's nothing in your child's room that's online.

Every device comes with a 100-night trial, long enough to get past the novelty period and through a few real routines. If it isn't working for your family, contact us and we'll refund you in full; you just cover the return postage. As a small Australian business we can't absorb shipping in both directions, so that's the honest deal.

Yes, the battery runs around 12 hours, and the device plays while plugged in via USB-C, so it can run continuously overnight either way.

There are no exposed cables required in reach of the cot if you run it on battery, and timers (set from the app) can switch it off automatically if you prefer.

No. Older kids skip the white-noise years and come in at the stage that fits, most 5 to 8 year olds land on the stories and the ok-to-wake light, then keep the device as a clock, lamp and speaker well into their teens. The earlier stages are simply already behind them.

No risk, all reward

Try It For 100 Nights.

Long enough to get past the novelty and into a real routine. If it isn't working for your family, we refund you in full.

Our kids love their machines. App is easy to use and the stories are a great bonus. Much better than the Nodiee we had

Great product, has not skipped a beat and my daughter loves it. So useful to get her to go to sleep at night Works a charm

Sounds & Stories®

Our kids can never agree on a sound, so having a proper range has saved a lot of arguments. Funny thing is they both love the Bali story, which nobody predicted. It's clearly made for kids but doesn't feel like a toy when you're the one using it.

We drift back to flowing creek every time.

Sounds & Stories®

Didn't realise you could hide the clock until week two, and that's been great for our toddler who goes down before her brother. Brown noise ended up being the one everyone could live with. Sits on the nightstand without being in the way.

Sounds & Stories®

No Wifi and no subscription, that's what sold me. Half asleep at 2am you just press a button and it works. Wish more things were like this.

Sounds & Stories®

We've heard the Taj Mahal story enough times to know it's the favourite here.

Sounds & Stories®

Store owner replied: Thanks so much for the review Ava! Taj Mahal is a favourite in our house too.

Bought it for the sounds, honestly, and then both kids got obsessed with the Eiffel Tower story instead. Go figure. Had one setting I couldn't work out and support actually explained it properly. The timer is a lifesaver when bedtime blows out, and it doesn't need Wifi, so it just works even when the house is chaos.

Sounds & Stories®

The child lock is the hero feature in this house, two kids and only one of them can be trusted with buttons. We use the buttons half the time and the app the other half, depending on who's doing bedtime.

Sounds & Stories®

The good part is the night light and sounds genuinely work well together. The frustrating part is the volume jumps at the quiet end, there's nothing between too soft and too loud for our room.

Sounds & Stories®

Store owner replied: Thanks for the review Bridget. Fair call on the volume steps at the quiet end, you're not the first to mention it and it's on our list for the next update!

You can hide the clock, which our dark room needed. The morning light has actually made wake ups predictable. It's on pretty much every night.

Sounds & Stories®

A colleague raved about it so we gave it a go. Being able to change settings without walking back into the room is the thing I'd miss most now. Our son picks the Taj Mahal story whenever someone else does bedtime, and brown noise covers the TV in the next room.

Sounds & Stories®

Twelve Apostles has become part of books and quiet time. With one kid down before the other we run soft fan sound in between, and the buttons mean I'm not creeping back in to adjust anything. They get a bit of choice without getting all of it.
